Hotel Living

When our temporary living was extended another month because Steve was needed back in Puerto Rico, we thought we would stay in our serviced apartment. No such luck. July and August are the big tourist months up here in the Highlands and our apartment was unavailable. In fact, no apartments had availability. So we are now living in a hotel and the cats are at a cattery.

Our hotel, Best Western Lochardil House, is a converted manor house dating back to the 1870s. It's a lovely place set in a quiet, residential neighborhood. The quiet is a nice break from the loud pub goers late at night. We have a junior suite, so the space is decent. But I do miss the cats and think of them often.

Here are a few shots of our new, albeit temporary, home:

Here is the main building of the hotel. Its date stone says 1876-78. I imagine that once upon a time, this manor house sat in the middle of a vast expanse of land.

Here's a view of the house from the side. The added conservatory is now the restaurant. We have breakfast there every morning.

This is the new wing where our room is located. We're on the ground floor at the back.

This is the view out of our back door. We have a private patio and easy access to the lovely garden.

An interesting tree in the garden. It looks like a weeping willow, but it's a type of cypress tree.

And here's a view of the garden from up near the conservatory. It is truly lovely. And so peaceful. It's a very pleasant change from the hustle and bustle of the city center. What's also nice is the staff members are all pleasant and kind. You feel welcome here. If you ever find yourself staying in Inverness, I heartily recommend Best Western Lochardil House. It may be part of the BW chain of hotels, but it retains the charm, warmth, and character of an independently owned bed and breakfast.
