The View from the Road
These are some shots I took from the car as we meandered our way around England a couple of weeks ago.
We drove through this town on our way from Leeds to Preston. I'm afraid I can't recall its name.
Some of those ubiquitous wind turbines. The clouds were hanging low and the scene had a bit of a gloomy feel to it. Unfortunately, I didn't really capture that feeling with my phone.
This isn't a great shot, but it's a rather typical scene in northern England:
Green fields, sheep, and stone walls.
Again, not a great photo. This stone outcropping seemed out of place amongst the rolling, green hills.
We're on the M6 heading north from Preston toward home.
Another view of the Lake District fells in the distance.
It's a tradition to stop at the motorway services at Tebay. We arrived late in the day. I liked how the duck pond and stand of trees were silhouetted against the cloud-wrapped sun.
We broke our journey up into smaller, easier-to-handle chunks. So we stayed the night in one of the Premier Inns near Falkirk, Scotland. The restaurant was all gussied up for Halloween, but it also had a table advertising its Christmas menu. Someone put a bat amongst all the festive Christmas decorations and I found it rather amusing. If it had been me, I would have put a Santa hat on the bat.
