Last Vacay Days
We left York on a Wednesday afternoon. We took the train to Manchester Airport. From there we flew to Inverness. We just relaxed Wednesday night. Steve was in Germany for work, so we ordered in some Chinese food and just hung out.
Yep, the plane we took back to Inverness had propellors.
On Thursday afternoon, Christa bade Inverness a final farewell as we boarded a train to Glasgow. We arrived in the later afternoon. Not only was the heatwave we had been enduring in England nowhere near Scotland, it was growing downright chilly! We enjoyed a stroll in the area around our hotel and then had a bite to eat. It was another low-key night because we needed to leave for the airport around 9:30 the next morning.
Some pretty glass lamps in one of the Glasgow eateries.
Glasgow boasts an inordinate amount of gourmet burger restaurants. I think we counted four of them within a one-block radius. We ate at the one called Bread Meats Bread. As you can see, it had an interesting selection of burger options.
I got a fancy grilled cheese, but Christa got this tower of food. I think this is the Lamburghini. It's been over a month and I've got a memory like a sieve. So I could very well be wrong.
The view from our hotel room. Glasgow isn't exactly pretty from on high.
On Friday, we walked to the nearby bus station to grab the airport bus. Once at the airport, we found Christa's check-in desk, and said our good-byes. Christa was kind enough to loan me one of her hoodies. I had grown so used to the very summery weather that I hadn't bothered to pack anything warm. It was drizzling, windy, and a tad brisk. It probably wouldn't have been a big deal, but I had a bit of a trek from the bus depot to the railway station. So I was very happy to have that hoodie!
It was great having Christa visit for those two weeks. We had such a good time that we're already planning her trip for next year.
