Muppets!

We visited The Center for Puppetry Arts during our weekend visit with Andrea in Atlanta. The Center offers a small puppet museum, shows, and puppetry workshops. We were there to see the new Jim Henson exhibit. It did not disappoint. We spent about an hour happily traveling down Memory Lane as we visited a slew of Muppet vehicles, including Sesame Street, Dark Crystal, Fraggle Rock, and Labyrinth. Andrea and I were both squealing with delight as we recognized favorite characters.

Familiar Faces from The Muppet Show:

Rowlf the Dog

I don't know this penguin's name, but it's a penguin. That's all that matters.

Fozzie!

This isn't Gonzo's girlfriend, Camilla. I can't remember what her name is.

Doctor Teeth. But no Electric Mayhem. :-(

Scooter, the adorable Robin, and the musician who bops the cute fuzz balls on the head.

Now let's head down to Fraggle Rock!:

Andrea watched this show when she was little. I'm afraid I don't really know the characters.

Seeing these characters from The Dark Crystal made me want to see the movie again:

The Garthim, the henchmen of the Skesis, aka The Bad Guys.

Jen, the Gelfling who was raised by the Mystics, aka The Good Guys.

The oracle, Aughra.

I remember very little of Labyrinth.  I guess I need to watch that one again, too:

And finally, Tale of the Bunny Picnic:

Like Fraggle Rock, this was a favorite of Andrea's when she was a wee lass. Bean the Bunny is just too adorable. Even when he's a dragon!

These aren't Henson creations, but I wanted to share them all the same:

I didn't realize that stop-motion figures were considered puppets. So I was surprised to see these characters from The Corpse Bride.

This was a blast from my tween-hood. Of course, Madame really was a bit risque. But I was raised in a household with Monty Python's Flying Circus. :-)
