A Snowy Morning

A few days ago, the Met Office app began warning about snow and ice on its way to the area. The Weather Channel app disagreed. It didn't even see much in the way of rain in our future. So I kept tabs on the apps to see who'd win. Experience has taught me that the accuracy ebbs and flows twixt the two. So when they disagree so strongly, it's really anyone's guess who will end up correct. Then yesterday, I noticed the Weather Channel was moving into the snow camp. By bedtime yesterday, both apps were predicting the same thing: Snow, and lots of it.

I awoke to a nice dusting of white on the ground, but there was just the occasional "sprinkle" of snow every now and then. I got to work on my dissertating for the day. Around 9, the doorbell rang. I ran downstairs to the door and found my postal carrier hunched down in what can only be described as a blizzard. She said it came out of nowhere. I took my parcel, bade her be careful in the weather, and went and grabbed my phone. I needed to record this!

The intense blitz of snow quickly diminished in intensity, but not so much in quantity. And while the snowfall now has tapered back to gentle flurries, it's now 1 p.m. and it's still snowing! We have a good three or four inches of accumulation out there.  I may have to go outside and play for awhile.

In the meantime, here's a video of the snow. The music in the background is "Seven Nation Army" performed by The Red Hot Chili Pipers. It's from their Octane album. You can find it here.
